Full job description

Description

Our client, a large and growing organization in the energy and industrial sector, is seeking a Plant Accounting Supervisor to lead a team responsible for accounting activities that support plant operations in the Oklahoma City area. This position offers the opportunity to oversee critical accounting functions, contribute to operational decision-making, and drive process improvements within a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret complex midstream contracts and commercial agreements to ensure correct settlement with producers and shippers.

  • Review customer settlement calculations and adjustments assisting in customer disputes and revenue-related issues.

  • Maintain and strengthen SOX controls over revenue processes by developing standardized procedures and documentation.

  • Lead and manage the monthly close process for plant and operational accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and other supporting documentation to maintain the integrity of financial records.

  • Oversee general ledger activity and investigate variances, discrepancies, and unusual transactions.

  • Analyze operational and financial data to provide meaningful insights to leadership and support business decisions.

  • Collaborate with operations, finance, and other cross-functional teams to ensure accurate accounting treatment of plant-related transactions.

  • Support internal and external audit activities, including preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries.

  • Monitor compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and leverage technology to strengthen accounting operations.

  • Prepare and present financial analyses, reports, and account summaries to management.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including plant, manufacturing, cost accounting, energy, or operational accounting experience.

  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.

  • Strong understanding of month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and internal controls.

  • Experience supporting audits and preparing audit-related documentation.

  • Experience working with ERP systems; SAP experience is a plus.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments
