ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM:

The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Internship Program is a prestigious, cohort-based experience that attracts top talent from across the country for paid, full-time summer internships spanning majors and functional areas – from economic research and finance to Cash Services, IT, and beyond. While interns take on a specific functional role for the summer with meaningful work and opportunities to grow, the program offers much more than a single assignment. Dedicated staff mentors help launch your career, and curated cohort programming provides broad exposure to central banking, direct access to senior leaders and industry experts, and dedicated learning and development opportunities. As part of the Federal Reserve System, you'll also build a professional network of peers that spans the nation. The program runs approximately for 10-12 weeks, beginning in mid-to-late May and concluding in August. For this specific position, you will be located in the Dallas office.

ABOUT YOUR TEAM:

The Research department undertakes research and analysis to add to the frontier of knowledge and to inform monetary policy. The department produces and publishes relevant, timely and innovative research and prepares briefings to support the Bank President’s participation at Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meetings.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas invites applications for PhD Dissertation Fellow positions for the summer of 2027. This program provides an excellent opportunity for PhD students in economics to engage in high-quality research and gain valuable exposure to scholarly work conducted at the Dallas Fed. Fellows will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Bank's research economists, research affiliates, visiting scholars, and other dissertation fellows, fostering a rich academic and research environment.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Open to PhD students from all PhD-granting institutions (both domestic and international).

  • Applicants must have passed their qualifying exams and reached the dissertation stage of their program.

  • Preference will be given to students expecting to complete their PhD in 2028.

  • The program will be held in-person in Dallas, lasting from 4 to 12 weeks, during summer 2027.

  • Fellows are expected to deliver a formal presentation at the Dallas Fed's brownbag seminar series during the last two weeks of their fellowship.

WORK HOURS:

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (40 hours/ week). Some additional hours may be required.

Participation in our internship program is a valuable learning opportunity and does not guarantee future employment.
