Under the general guidance of the Corporate FSQA function, the FSQA Supervisor is responsible for participating in the development of and implementation and coordination of food safety and quality policies and procedures to ensure compliance with various associated regulatory agencies as well as production of high-quality safe produce repack operations for assigned market. Provide technical support for food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance to the Distribution Centers (DC) within the assigned region. Conduct US Foods internal audits for GFSI certification.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP). Review and analyze test results; sample and identify pathogens or organisms of concern; implement corrective action to non-compliance. Use test results to regularly assess the EMP. Ship samples to the lab. Manage swab orders and storage. Use results to trend any food safety plan deviations. Perform or direct trained designee on the EMP sampling protocol and paperwork completion.
Provide technical knowledge that ensures the food safety, quality and regulatory systems are based on sound science, leading industry best practices, meets all requirements for chosen GFSI certification scheme, and are in compliance with all regulatory and US Foods requirements or to implement corrective action
Enforce food safety program and procedures, GMP, USDA, State and Local and DOL policy, and personnel hygiene policies.
Assist with all regulatory visits and provide responses to non-compliance records. Maintain communication with certification body for all inquiries related to audit results and appeals.
Assist with preparation for any and all food safety audits for assigned site and ensure effectiveness of corrective and preventative action process within the framework of US Foods internal audit program.
Manage and verify the effectiveness of the sanitation program within the repack operation and make recommendations for improvements, including leveraging new technology to mitigate hazards
Support, evaluate and update the Preventive Controls plan. Ensure the plan requirements are met Review packing list and follow all required food safety procedures Assist with maintenance of packaging, equipment, surfaces, and tools. Review sanitation records of repacking room and track usage of cleaning chemicals and sanitizer. Maintain dilution records. Ensure finished cases are properly labeled.
Inspect repacking area to determine quality of produce and indicate produce to be repacked or removed Ensure workers are following repack procedures in accordance with customer & management specifications and observe daily procedures to assure food safety and quality control standards. Ensure repacked produce is properly handled and stored while meeting quality criteria/standards
Participate in the development of food safety and quality Distribution Center specific policies and procedures Active agent in the continuous improvement of the Food Safety Culture and an advocate for the protection of the Brand.
Verify and communicate to appropriate departments any issues related to food safety and/or quality. Report and assist with correcting any unsanitary conditions in food storage areas as well as employee work areas. Review the food safety plan as necessary, sign off on all program records, provide trending and analysis summaries to senior management
Prepare and evaluate period FSQA scorecard and review with related market.
Develop, maintain, and update records, procedures, work instructions, training procedures and product specifications that pertain to food safety, regulatory requirements, and quality control
Ensure produce donations are made following US Foods food safety procedures
Perform other duties as necessary

Qualifications Education and Training Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Postharvest Physiology, related field, or equivalent experience required
Related Experience 3+ years minimum experience in a Quality Assurance Supervisor Function required
4+ years of progressive relevant experience in driving business results in food safety, quality or regulatory compliance required.
3+ years minimum experience in Food Processing environment, produce experience preferred
HACCP certified required
PCQI certified preferred (or certified within 90 days required)
EMP experience required
Forklift certification preferred (willing to become certified required)
Knowledge Skills and Ability State and Federal regulation knowledge required
Extensive knowledge and proficiency in the development, use and application of key food safety, quality, regulatory and business metrics, data and performance analysis and techniques used to drive performance (including but not limited to audits, process controls, food safety and sanitation programs, regulatory requirements, etc.) is required.
Must be able to work independently with limited supervision and outstanding initiative and drive for success required
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills for large and small groups; must possess pronounced business acumen, and be able to facilitate effective interaction across all levels, up to and including executive leadership required
Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is required
Keen analytical insight and ability, and be able to effectively communicate complex concepts, figures, statistics, and metrics in an impactful manner are required
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The associate is frequently required to stand and walk. While performing the duties of this position, the associate is subject to a warehouse environment in a cold chain facility with material handling equipment present and in use. Weekend and Holiday work may be required
