Information Security Engineers

Job Duties

Design and implement security controls tailored for accounting software, tax preparation systems, and financial databases to protect client data. Ensure the security of financial transactions and records across various platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Oracle Financials). Implement encryption for sensitive documents and client communications. Enforce secure storage solutions, ensuring compliance with data retention policies and safeguarding Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and financial data. Set up and maintain perimeter defenses, including next-generation firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and Virtual Private Networks. Oversee cloud security for financial applications hosted on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Set up and maintain a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system to monitor access to financial records and prevent unauthorized access. Develop a comprehensive Incident Response Plan (IRP) specific to accounting and tax-related breaches and phishing attacks. Regularly assess the firm’s IT infrastructure for vulnerabilities through automated tools (e.g., Nessus) and manual testing. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), and IRS regulations for tax professionals. Maintain comprehensive documentation for annual compliance audits. Develop and implement business continuity plans. Conduct regular security awareness sessions. Develop and enforce security policies that address the protection of financial data, tax information, and client records, including secure login practices, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and secure file sharing. Implement firm-wide policies for secure email communication, client data encryption, and safe remote work practices.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum Experience Required

Requires 3 years of experience in information security engineering, including: financial compliance standards such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), PCI DSS, and IRS regulations for tax preparers; security tools such as firewalls, SIEM systems, and endpoint protection; cloud security, encryption methods, and data protection for financial applications; QuickBooks, Smart, Smart HR, and Zoho one software.
