Job Description: Epic STARS Analyst Position Summary The Epic STARS Analyst supports the build, maintenance, and optimization of Epic-based tools that drive Medicare Star Ratings, HEDIS, and NCQA quality measure performance. Working within Epic Healthy Planet and related modules, this role focuses on day-to-day analysis, build support, testing, and reporting to help close care gaps and improve quality measure outcomes. This is a hands-on technical and analytical role, ideal for someone with strong Epic experience who wants to specialize in quality/population health measure work. Key Responsibilities Analysis & Build Support
- Support the build and maintenance of Epic Healthy Planet registries, health maintenance topics, care gap alerts, and best practice advisories (BPAs) tied to Star Ratings measures.
- Translate HEDIS technical specifications and CMS Star Ratings measure criteria into Epic build requirements alongside senior analysts and architects.
- Assist in configuring and testing quality measure logic within Epic to ensure accurate gap identification and closure tracking.
- Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day issues related to Star measure workflows, registries, and reporting discrepancies.
Reporting & Data Validation
- Build and maintain reports using Reporting Workbench, Clarity/Caboodle, and SlicerDicer to track Star Ratings performance and care gap closure rates.
- Validate quality measure data for accuracy, identifying and resolving discrepancies between Epic data and quality reporting outputs.
- Support monthly/quarterly Star Ratings reporting cycles, ensuring timely and accurate data delivery to Quality and Population Health teams.
Stakeholder Support
- Serve as a point of contact for clinical and quality staff with questions about Star measure workflows or documentation within Epic.
- Partner with Quality, Population Health, and ACO teams to gather requirements and communicate build updates or limitations.
- Participate in testing and validation sessions with end users prior to release of new builds or measure updates.
Documentation & Change Management
- Maintain clear documentation of build configurations, workflows, and measure logic for audit and knowledge-continuity purposes.
- Support change control processes, including testing and validating updates tied to annual HEDIS/CMS specification changes.
- Track and manage assigned work items using agile tools (e.g., Rally), ensuring user stories are current and accurately reflect status for release planning.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Epic Certified in Healthy Planet, Reporting or related modules.
- 2+ years of experience working with Epic, ideally within Healthy Planet, Reporting Workbench, Clarity/Caboodle, or SlicerDicer.
- Familiarity with Medicare Star Ratings, HEDIS, and/or NCQA quality measure concepts.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in data validation and measure logic testing.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and clinical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a health plan, ACO, or population health environment.
- Familiarity with agile delivery tools (e.g., Rally) for tracking build and release work.
- Basic understanding of FHIR/HL7 interoperability concepts.

Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is:
$101,970.00 - $203,940.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
