Child Development Specialist, Pediatric - Special Services (Casual 19.99 hrs) (Galveston)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Child Development or related field or equivalent and one year related experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To provide comprehensive development programs and assessment for preschool ages.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans, organizes, implements and evaluates developmental programs for infants and preschoolers.

  • Trains parents to be facilitator of child's programs.

  • Provides case management and support to families.

  • Functions as a part of an interdisciplinary team in assessment and planning for children.

  • Determines if program objectives are being met and recommends testing to measure effectiveness of instructions.

  • Provides case management and family documentation through reports, case files, and other related records.

  • Participates in overall project work plan and project evaluation/quality assurance efforts.

  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.

  • Performs related duties as required

  • Obtaining detailed developmental, medical, and educational histories.

  • Educating and supporting families on special education processes, services, and advocacy.

  • Assisting families with school enrollment and access to Early Childhood Special Education and other school-based services.

  • Supporting parents in navigating school systems and securing appropriate educational accommodations and resources.

  • Facilitating communication and information-sharing among families, schools, healthcare providers, and the Special Education Navigator to ensure children receive educational services appropriate to their needs.

  • Providing ongoing consultation on educational needs between clinic visits.

SALARY:

Commensurate with experience.
