Responsible for checking gas meters for leaks and corrosion, as well as installing Remote Methane Detectors. This includes visual inspection and ensuring all required paperwork / drawings are completed. While on-site, the technician will be responsible for identifying any abnormal operating conditions along with accurately filling out all forms associated with the inspection visit (form may be electronic or paper).

The starting pay for this position is $20 per hour for new technicians up to $27 per hour for those with substantial prior experience. New technicians will be moved to $20.60 per hour once fully qualified and working independently in the field. Up to $750 in bi-weekly production-based incentives.

These are daytime, full-time positions and overtime may be required. Instructor led training will be provided. This position may require you to work weekends.

What We Need from You (Our Requirements):

  • Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Previous outdoor experience is a plus

Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed

  • Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out-of-area or overnight travel may be expected

  • Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety-sensitive position)

  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record required

  • Able to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain; bend and stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.

  • Proficiency with technology

  • Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners. Customer service experience is a plus

  • Ability to use simple hand tools

  • Ability to read utility maps

  • Able to work in all areas of Long Island (willingness to work in NYC a plus)
