Annual Salary: $73,464 + 1,500 w/Masters Stipend $74,964*

Hours: 8:00AM - 4:00PM

Job Responsibilities: The Coordinator of Home-School Monitoring Services/Policy Services works under the direction of the Manager of Policy & Home-School Monitoring Services to support New York State school districts participating in the Home-School Monitoring Service. The Coordinator is responsible for reviewing and monitoring home instruction documentation to ensure compliance with the Commissioner’s Regulations Part 100 and New York State Education Department (NYSED) requirements. This includes the review of Individualized Home Instruction Plans (IHIPs), quarterly reports, and annual assessments, as well as maintaining accurate records and communication with participating districts. The Coordinator also provides assistance to school districts throughout New York State in policy development, development and maintenance of policy and administrative manuals.

  • Works in collaboration with Manager to review and respond to home-schooling documentation required by Commissioner’s Regulations Part 100 and NYSED, including but not limited to IHIPs, quarterly reports, and annual assessments to verify instructional progress and regulatory compliance.

  • Monitors and tracks the status of all home-schooled students using a centralized database or tracking system.

  • Maintains accurate and confidential records related to home-school instruction for participating school districts.

  • Responds to home-school monitoring inquiries from designated school district staU members.

  • Provides guidance and clarification to school districts regarding home-school regulations and documentation requirements.

  • Communicates with the Manager of Home-School Monitoring Services regarding compliance issues, trends, and areas of concern.

  • Assists school districts in meeting state mandates related to home instruction monitoring.

  • Maintains positive and professional working relationships with assigned participating districts in home-schooling and policy.

  • Assists in the development of policy and administrative updates and other relevant documents that support the services of the department.

  • Responds to policy related inquiries by participating districts.

  • Stays informed of changes to Commissioner’s Regulations, NYSED guidance, and legal requirements related to home-schooling and policy matters and communicates relevant updates to supervisory staff.

  • Performs other duties as assigned that are relevant to the civil service job description for this title.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Civil Service Qualifications: There is no civil service examination required for this position for the duration of the NY HELPS Program. Candidates must meet the minimum civil service qualifications for a NY HELPS appointment as follows:

A) Possession of a Master’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Education or closely related field and one (1) year of experience performing research or communications activities relating to either governmental planning or K-12 school operations; or; B) Possession of a bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Education or closely related field and three (3) years experience performing research or communications activities relating to either governmental planning or K-12 school operations; or; C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).

Additional Qualifications:

  • NYS Administrator or Teacher Certification preferred but not required
