We are seeking a results-oriented Sand & Gravel Plant Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of our Bristol and Rosser plants in Ennis, Texas . This leader will drive operational excellence, develop high-performing teams, and ensure reliable product quality while supporting Heidelberg Materials' commitment to safety, sustainability, and customer service.
What You'll Be Doing
-
Lead all aspects of plant operations across both sand and gravel facilities, with safety as the top priority.

Drive production performance, equipment reliability, and operating efficiencies to achieve business objectives.
-
Manage and develop plant teams through effective coaching, communication, workforce planning, and performance management.
-
Oversee budgeting, cost control, inventory management, and operational improvement initiatives.
-
Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, and company standards while maintaining strong customer service and product quality.
Critical Experience
-
7+ years of progressive leadership experience in aggregates, mining, sand and gravel, construction materials, or a related heavy industrial environment.
-
Demonstrated success leading multi-site operations with accountability for safety, production, maintenance, quality, and financial performance.
-
Experience managing plant budgets, cost controls, capital projects, and operational improvement initiatives.
-
Proven ability to lead, develop, and coach teams while fostering employee engagement and accountability.
-
Experience working with environmental, MSHA, regulatory, and compliance requirements in an industrial setting.
Critical Skills

Strong operational leadership skills with the ability to balance safety, production, quality, and customer service objectives.

Knowledge of aggregate processing equipment, plant maintenance strategies, material handling, and production planning.

Ability to analyze operational and financial data, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Excellent communication, relationship-building, and change management skills.

Proficiency with business systems, reporting tools, budgeting processes, and performance management practices.

Education & Experience
-
Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combinations of education, training, and industry experience will be considered.

Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible operations leadership experience in aggregates, mining, construction materials, manufacturing, or a related industrial environment.

Demonstrated capability to successfully manage teams, operational performance, regulatory compliance, and business results in a plant environment.
Work Environment
-
Regular presence in plant, shop, office, and outdoor work environments with exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and moving equipment.
-
Frequent interaction with production, maintenance, quality, logistics, and support teams across multiple locations.
-
Periodic travel between operating sites and participation in on-call or extended work schedules as business needs require.
Physical Demands of the Job
-
Regularly walk, stand, climb stairs and ladders, and navigate uneven surfaces throughout plant, mining, and operational areas.

Frequently inspect equipment, conduct field observations, and move throughout indoor and outdoor work environments in varying weather conditions.
-
Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment up to 25 pounds and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
-
Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through digital platforms, and perform work requiring close and distance vision.
-
Ability to respond to operational issues and emergencies that may require extended periods of walking, standing, or working in active production environments.
