Overview

This position is responsible for the direct supervision of employees and contractors during the repairs, construction & maintenance of gas distribution and transmission lines and facilities. This also includes planning coordinating and communicating with others involved with the work. Primary work hours for this position will be second shift, overseeing gas trouble technicians, gas construction crews, and contractors working second shift hours.

Responsibilities

•Actively demonstrates a strong and visible commitment to safety of employees through support and participation of department tailgates, safety audits, supporting company Health and Safety initiatives

•Supervises gas distribution trouble technicians and field crews including emergency response, installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of gas mains, services, and other gas facilities in the second shift work hours. Also provides support and oversight for 2nd shift contractors, including Gas Meter contract technicians.

•Assists with gas emergencies, as needed, including after-hours response, including overnight, holidays and weekends (on-call). This includes providing onsite leadership of emergency situations in accordance with company policies and procedures (leaks, outages)

•Supervises the administrative functions for employees, including daily time keeping, personnel records, accident reports and investigations, tool and equipment inspection, and maintenance reports

•Manages PPE, materials, tool, vehicle and equipment needs for their organization

•Assists with the development of associated budgets

•Evaluates and reviews job performance and progress of subordinates, including mentoring and advancement counseling, and development opportunities

•Administers disciplinary actions, in accordance with Uniform Work Rules and company policy Assists in hiring of new employees in accordance with company policy

•Ensures that work in the department maintains strict compliance with the Department of Transportation, Kentucky Public Service, OSHA, other regulatory requirements, and company policies

•Performs other duties as assigned

•Complies with all policies and standards

Required Education

Associate's degree

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of gas distribution experience or equivalent combination of education and experience on a year for year basis is required.

  • Knowledge of LG&E's gas system and operating procedures, as well as sound judgment during critical operating situations. Must have good planning, organizing, written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

•Should have above average interpersonal and team building skills.

•Working knowledge of work management and operating systems used in GDO and Microsoft Office Suite, and smartphone use.
