Description

DUTIES

Otter Tail Power Company is looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Technician I or II to join our team. If you enjoy hands-on work, solving complex technical challenges, and keeping critical systems running safely and efficiently, this is an exciting opportunity to make an impact every day.

This position reports to Supervisor Operations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of High and Medium Voltage Substation Equipment.

  • Perform mechanical and electrical testing on Apparatus such as circuit breakers, reclosers, regulators, transformers, battery banks, capacitors, relays, in energized facilities.

  • Support transmission, distribution, and generation systems that power our communities.

  • Maintain accurate documentation including service reports, time tracking, expense records.

  • Travel across our system as needed to support operations and respond to challenges.

  • Play a key role in system reliability by responding to direction from the System Operator during system events or emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree (2-year) in Electrical/Electronic Technology from an accredited school, or equivalent military training, correspondence coursework, or experience.

  • Strong understanding of electrical and electronic schematics and diagrams.

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.

  • Sound judgment, especially in emergency situations.

  • Ability to work outdoors, cooperatively with team members, and maintain positive customer interactions.

  • Ability to lift 50lbs, use ladders and arial lifts

  • Employees are required to establish residence within 30 miles of permanent headquarters.

  • A valid driver’s license and a medical card or the ability to obtain one is required for this position.
