Security Network Engineer III

Job Description

Our client is seeking a Senior Network Firewall Engineer to support and optimize enterprise network security infrastructure, with a primary focus on firewall management and a large-scale migration from Palo Alto to Cisco firewalls. This hybrid, contract-to-hire position will work closely with the hiring manager and a small team of network engineers to design, implement, maintain, and enhance secure network connectivity across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on firewall expertise, experience supporting enterprise environments, and the ability to lead security-focused projects while ensuring compliance and operational excellence.

Skills and Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on network security experience, specifically focused on firewall administration and support

• Strong experience managing and troubleshooting enterprise firewall environments

• Experience with Cisco firewalls (preferred platform)

• Experience with Palo Alto firewalls

• Knowledge of secure network architecture and network security best practices

• Experience supporting firewall migrations, upgrades, or large-scale security projects

• Ability to perform incident response, root cause analysis, and firewall policy management

• Experience monitoring network health, capacity, and performance

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams and business stakeholders

• Cisco firewall certifications

• Palo Alto certifications

• CompTIA Security+ or similar security certifications

• Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center

• Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)

• Experience with Netscaler or similar load balancing technologies

• Experience with Zscaler

• Network automation and scripting experience

• Experience working in highly regulated environments (PCI, gaming, or similar)

• Bachelor's degree or relevant technical education

• Project leadership or project management experience Experience with governance, compliance audits, and security documentation
