Duties: Helps build positive relationships with customers by providing solutions to technical issues from entry-into-service until end-of-life. Performs design improvements of existing products with minimal supervision. Assignments may include product design changes, root cause corrective action investigations, development of troubleshooting tools for maintenance, and understanding component and fleet reliability concerns, so that the end customer, the passenger, wants to ride in that aircraft on that airline again. This role provides a vital part of the on-going customer feedback process. Responsible for applying standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques in providing solutions to a variety of problems, to include using the applicable component maintenance manual (CMM) as a reference. Coordinates offshore contracting team’s data mining of detailed tear down reports to establish failure causes. Organizes, interprets, and reports results with little guidance. Works under general supervision with occasional reviews during performance of the work. Planning of assignments is normally performed with concurrence of the manager. Final reports and results are approved by the manager for soundness of technical judgment and overall accuracy and adequacy. Interfaces daily with manager, other department team members, other engineering departments, program and project managers, quality assurance, and the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) repair stations to help solve problems involving product deficiencies, design changes, maintenance issues, and manufacturing processes and costs, enabling the cross-pollination of design ideas/technical know-how. Works within a global customer support network, with weekly contact with field support engineering team members, customer support engineering team members, and other colleagues off-site. Directs the update of CMMs for in-service aircraft model programs. Supports NPI process, representing Technical Support (aftermarket) in preparation for gate reviews and aftermarket milestones. Interfaces with OEM customer support engineers concerning aspects of product performance, with a focus on the data supporting root cause of issues with the braking system. Hybrid work permitted 1 day per week within a reasonable commuting distance of the Akron, Ohio office.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field of study and ten (10) years of experience as a Reliability Engineer or related role where the required experience was gained. Coordinating offshore team members and contractors;
