Fort William Henry is seeking anIT & Network Support Specialistto serve as the primary onsite resource for day-to-day technology support across our hotel, restaurants, banquet facilities, museum, retail operations, and administrative offices.This position is ideal for a hands-on IT professional who enjoys troubleshooting, supporting end users, working with a variety of business systems, and maintaining physical technology infrastructure. The Specialist will work closely with FWH management, department leaders, and technology vendors.The role is focused on onsite support, troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, documentation, and vendor coordination.

Salary: $24-$28/hour based on experience

Schedule:

This is a full-time, onsite position. Fort William Henry operates seven days per week, and occasional evening, weekend, holiday, or after-hours availability will be required for critical technology issues, system upgrades, events, and special projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary onsite contact for employee IT support requests.

  • Troubleshoot computers, printers, phones, tablets, POS equipment, software, network connectivity, and other technology issues.

  • Support technology used throughout hotel, restaurant, retail, museum, event, and administrative operations.

  • Assist users with Microsoft 365, email, passwords, shared resources, and common business applications.

  • Install and replace computers, printers, network equipment, wireless access points, cameras, phones, POS devices, and peripherals.

  • Run, terminate, test, label, and organize network cabling.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting of wired and wireless networks, switches, access points, and connected devices.

  • Maintain network closets, equipment rooms, cabling, and IT work areas.

  • Assist with employee technology setup, moves, changes, and offboarding.

  • Coordinate with software providers, telecommunications vendors, and our IT consultant when issues require escalation.

  • Provide onsite assistance to outside technicians performing remote troubleshooting or configuration work.

  • Maintain IT documentation, system information, equipment inventories, troubleshooting procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Assist with technology upgrades, installations, replacements, and special projects.

  • Support cybersecurity and PCI-related procedures established by FWH and its outside technology providers.

  • Participate in after-hours, weekend, and holiday support for critical technology issues as needed.

FWH’s existing IT function includes support of computer systems, network infrastructure, property technology, telecommunications, and operational systems across the property.

Technology Environment:

The position will support a diverse hospitality technology environment that may include:

  • Microsoft 365

  • Hotel property management systems

  • Restaurant and retail POS systems

  • Museum ticketing and booking systems

  • Payroll and labor-management systems

  • Hotel electronic door locks

  • Payment-processing equipment

  • Telephone and telecommunications systems

  • Security cameras

  • Workstations, printers, tablets, mobile devices, and other network-connected equipment

Experience with every system is not required. The successful candidate should be comfortable learning new platforms, troubleshooting issues, and working with vendors when specialized assistance is needed.

Position Requirements

What We're Looking For:

  • 2+ years of experience in IT support, desktop support, help desk, networking, systems support, or a similar technical role.

  • Working knowledge of Windows computers and common business technology.

  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP, wired and wireless networking, switches, access points, and network-connected devices.

  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, printers, connectivity, and peripherals.

  • Ability to install and troubleshoot network cabling.

  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.

  • Ability to work independently and determine when an issue should be escalated.

  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.

  • Ability to clearly document technical procedures and system information.

  • Ability to work effectively with remote technical support teams and outside vendors.

  • Primary schedule expectation is Tuesday - Saturday, 9:00am-5:30pm.

  • Availability for after-hours, weekend, and holiday support for critical issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Networking, or a related field; equivalent education and experience will be considered.

  • Experience with Microsoft 365.

  • Experience supporting hospitality, restaurant, retail, hotel, or other multi-department business environments.

  • Experience working with Managed Service Providers or outside IT vendors.

  • Experience with network switches, wireless access points, structured cabling, cameras, POS systems, or telecommunications.

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, Cisco, Ubiquiti, or similar certifications are beneficial but not required.

Physical Requirements:

This is a hands-on, onsite technology position. The employee must be comfortable:

  • Walking throughout a multi-building property.

  • Working in offices, restaurants, guest-service areas, network closets, and equipment rooms.

  • Using ladders when installing or servicing equipment.

  • Running and terminating low-voltage cabling.

  • Bending, kneeling, reaching, and working around technology equipment.

  • Lifting and carrying computers, monitors, printers, network equipment, and related devices.

This position offers the opportunity to support technology across a diverse hospitality environment rather than working exclusively at a traditional help desk. You will have significant responsibility for day-to-day onsite IT operations while also working with experienced outside technology providers for advanced technical support.
