Universal Services is the enterprise IT solutions center for the departments and offices of Harris County, providing Information Technology, Public Safety and Justice Technologies, 311 Constituent Engagement Services, Fleet Services, and Records and Information Governance Services.

Harris County Commissioners Court, the County’s governing body, directs a budget of more than $4 billion providing essential services including flood control, infrastructure, healthcare, housing, and justice administration.

Position Overview: The Systems Engineer – Video Services is responsible for supporting and maintaining the County’s video conferencing and streaming infrastructure, with a focus on A/V over IP technologies. This role ensures continuous availability of video services for Commissioners’ Court, Multi-Purpose and Conference Rooms. The engineer plays a critical role in system configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and providing 24/7 support for video endpoints, recording systems, and livestream environments.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide technical support for the Commissioners Court live streaming via service provider.

Install and update software & firmware for AV related devices.

Design and manage AV projects between vendor and customer.

Update configuration of Crestron, Extron, QSC and AMX control systems
-
Update and maintain AV assets in monitoring tools.

Provide backup support for AV Architect and their duties.

Provide technical support AV and video conferencing systems.

- High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Crestron, Extron, QSC, AMX hardware and video conferencing systems.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with video endpoint devices.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of streaming protocols: RTMP, RTSP & Multicast Routing

Barco ClickShare Presentation and Video Conferencing devices.

AV over IP Systems and Platforms: Dante, QSC Creston, Extron, Visionary AV, Haivision & BrightSign

IP Routing & Subnetting
Applicants for this position will be subject to a criminal background check that includes being fingerprinted. This applies to any position with network access to Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) or access to an area where CJIS is received, maintained or stored either manually or electronically (i.e. custodian, maintenance).
Automatic Disqualification:
- Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for any Felony, and any Class A Misdemeanor
- Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for a Class B Misdemeanor, if within the previous 10 years
- Open arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor)
- Family Violence conviction

Associate degree or equivalent technical training preferred; additional relevant certifications are a plus.

This role requires availability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business and operational demands.

May be required to work more than forty hours during the workweek or on weekends when special projects or deadlines need to be met.

This location will be home office, but position may require traveling to different locations within Harris County.
Work Arrangement:
- Onsite 5 days/week
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
