Description

Job Purpose: The Staff Nurse (RN) is a professional care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients. The Staff Nurse (RN) will provide care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and coordinates with other health care team members, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs. Work is performed in accordance with established hospital standards, Work Rules, Human Resources Protocol & Procedures, nursing department/unit structure, process and outcome standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements and consistent with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the hospital and nursing department. Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other disciplines in maintaining standards for professional nursing and hospital practice in the clinical setting, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.

Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Possess current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six (6) months of transfer or hire.

Experience : Must possess six (6) months to one (1) year of post-graduation nursing and Labor & Delivery experience.

Preferred: Completion of any specialty education programs that would enrich knowledge base of specialty. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, NCC Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM), CLC certification, completion of Childbirth Educator Program. AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
