Full job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and provide rigorous, engaging instruction addressing student Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and NYS curriculum standards.

  • Use culturally and linguistically responsive practices to instruct students of varying cultural backgrounds.

  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, related service providers, and support staff to provide a team-oriented approach.

  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, strengths, and needs.

  • Prepare trimester and annual progress reports.

  • Complete student IEPs, including present levels of performance, goals and classroom accommodations using Frontline IEP.

  • Conduct and complete evaluations in a timely manner.

  • Complete accurate log notes using Frontline IEP.

  • Collect and record data regarding student progress toward IEP goals.

  • Use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and assistive technology as needed to address student needs.

  • Participate in Instructional Support Team (IST) meetings to provide pre-referral strategies and interventions to support students in general education settings.

  • Use a variety of interventions to support progress towards goals before considering more restrictive placements.

  • Implement data-driven interventions to address gaps in learning

  • Demonstrate a reflective mindset towards his/her instructional practice.

Job Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess or be eligible for New York State Certification in Speech

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence-Speech Language Pathologist preferred

  • Experience with augmentative and alternative communication devices preferred

  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply

COMMENTS:

We are seeking a qualified Speech-Language Teacher to provide evaluation, consultation, and direct speech-language services to elementary-aged students. The successful candidate will collaborate with teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support students' communication needs and access to the curriculum. Candidates should possess strong assessment, intervention, and documentation skills, be able to manage a diverse caseload, and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced school environment.
