Meet the Team The License Manager team builds and evolves the core licensing and entitlement capabilities that support Splunk products. Our work enables customers to understand, manage, and remain compliant with their licensed usage through reliable, secure, and high-performance software. We are a collaborative engineering team focused on backend and distributed systems development, working closely with product management, support, and partner engineering teams. The team values strong technical ownership, thoughtful design, and continuous improvement. Your Impact Design, build, test and maintain core License Manager capabilities using Go and C++ to support secure, scalable, and reliable product functionality. Lead complex features from technical design through production delivery, balancing correctness, performance, security, and long-term maintainability. Diagnose and resolve complex production issues to improve system resilience, observability, and operational readiness. Partner with product management, support, and engineering stakeholders to translate customer and business needs into robust technical solutions. Mentor engineers, contribute to technical design discussions, and help raise the engineering bar through high-quality code, documentation, and engineering best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong, hands-on Go experience building scalable, reliable, high-throughput production services.
- Strong, hands-on C++ experience in production systems, including performance-sensitive code, debugging, and design trade-offs.
- Ability to work effectively across Go services and existing C++ components, including integration and incremental modernization work.
- Experience leading technical design for distributed systems, APIs, and secure service-to-service communication.
- Deep ability to diagnose and resolve complex performance, reliability, and production issues.
- Strong automated-testing, observability, and production-support practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience evolving licensing, entitlement, metering, or commercial-platform services.
- Experience designing migration strategies for legacy systems while maintaining production stability.
- Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical decisions across teams.
- Python experience for test tooling and automation.
- Kubernetes and cloud-native service operations.
- Incident leadership and service-reliability engineering experience.
