Overview

Kimley-Horn is seeking an entrepreneurial Senior Project Manager, Practice Builder to lead and grow our Building Strucutres practice in Saint Paul, MN. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of client service, business development, technical excellence, and team leadership.

Responsibilities

  • This position will support the growth of the firm in our building structures and/or forensics practices.

  • Define and execute the vision for our Building Structures practice, ensuring sustainable growth and innovation.

  • Apply an entrepreneurial spirit to create a vision for growth in the local Building Structures practice and beyond.

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, positioning our firm as a trusted partner in the Building Structures industry.

  • Drive business development efforts, leveraging industry connections to secure new opportunities and expand market presence.

  • Supervise and lead Building Structures design projects, providing technical expertise and strategic oversight.

  • Ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables, and supervising the execution of work.

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.

  • Ensure project profitability, resource allocation, and seamless transitions of work to qualified staff.

  • Uphold integrity and sound business principles, driving operational excellence and long-term success.

  • Perform and review structural design calculations, prepare project document submittal packages, and maintain Quality Control for the entire project.

  • Conduct site investigations and structural evaluations while documentmenting field observations and preparing technical reports.

  • Support and participate in meetings and presentations with clients, owners, contractors, and design team members.

  • Contribute to identifying project opportunities through networking with new and existing clients.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of diversified structural engineering experience

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license

  • History of providing technical design and planning on a variety of structures

  • Knowledge in AutoCAD, Revit, and Sketchup with some ability to produce drawings and details, when needed

  • Knowledge and experience in structural analysis and design software, such as STAAD, RAM, E-Tabs, MathCAD, TEDDS, ADAPT PT, and other structural related design software

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and technical skills

  • Strong desire and ability to be engaged with clients solving project problems

  • Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to manage and mentor staff and direct resources effectively in a positive manner

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects profitably

  • Experience writing proposals, scopes of work, and budgets for projected work
