Essential Duties
- Perform general accounting activities, including the reconciliation and review of ledger accounts and financial statements
- Review, analyze and report accounting transactions to ensure accounting ledgers are complete, accurate and compliant with accepted accounting policies and principles
- Review and process development and pre-open invoices and general contractor pay applications to ensure costs are properly approved and coded prior to payment and reviewed for proper capitalization under US GAAP.
- Monitor costs spent to date against executed contracts to ensure spending within agreed-upon limits
- Manage vendor maintenance activities in accounts payable system to ensure new vendors are properly set-up in the system and information is maintained and modified appropriately.
- Prepare and post payroll allocation and work-in-progress entries to properly reflect labor and project costs
- Reconcile general ledger balances to general contractor invoices to ensure completeness of project costs prior to staging of assets in fixed assets subledger
- Prepare wire requests for escrow deposits for real estate acquisitions and verify that all terms and amounts are aligned with the respective purchase contract
- Prepare bond draws, forecasts, and budget‑to‑actual analyses to support lender requirements and monitor project performance
- Collaborate with lenders and the construction team to coordinate lien clearances and timely funding of draw requests
- Partner with other functional groups, including all other accounting areas, to address inquiries and provide financial support including forecasting, budgeting and analyzing variations from budget
- Assist in preparation of audit schedules for assigned areas and ensure the timely resolution of auditor questions/requests
- Maintain compliance in assigned required training and all training required by state/province or other regulating authorities as applicable to this role to ensure that Sunrise standards are always met
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on ensuring the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of financial and requisition reports
- Experience in identifying inefficiencies and implementing process improvements for more effective reporting
- Highly skilled in building strong relationships with cross-functional teams
Experience and Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed throughout this job description are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or related field, is required
- Minimum of four (4) years of accounting related experience
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is required
- Significant experience working with large datasets and expert knowledge of various data analysis software packages and tools (e.g., MS-Excel, Peoplesoft ERP) is required
- Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
