THE POSITION
Become a Corrections Equipment Operator with the Department of Corrections (DOC) and take on a role that keeps major operations moving every day. At the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Frackville, you will work with vehicles, equipment, and inmate teams to complete important freight and transport tasks. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on operating vehicles, transporting freight, and guiding inmate workers to complete daily assignments for SCI Frackville. You will help maintain safe work areas and complete required documentation to support facility operations. As a Corrections Equipment Operator, you will perform the following duties:

Vehicle Operation: Operate tractor-trailers, trucks, and other motor vehicles to complete transport tasks

Freight Handling: Load and unload trailers and participate in moving freight as needed
-
Inmate Oversight: Train and monitor inmate workers in safe and proper work methods for assigned tasks

Safety Procedures: Safeguard work areas, issue materials, and search inmates and workspaces for contraband

Record Keeping: Complete receipts, logs, reports, and documentation required by policy

Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine safety checks and minor repairs on assigned vehicles and equipment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week

Work hours are 5:30 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,010.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience in the operation of tractor-trailer trucks; or
-
A combination of experience and training which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A Commercial Driver's License.
Additional Requirements:
-
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
-
This position is subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal regulations.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
