Job Title: CNC Programmer (CAM)

Classification: Non-Exempt (Salary)

Department: Tooling

Reports to: Tooling Supervisor

Position Summary:

The CNC Programmer (CAM) is responsible for generating machining programs, developing work piece setups, and assisting with maintenance and training. This role works closely with the Tooling Supervisor and Engineering staff to support and improve machining operations in the die repair shop.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing PowerMILL CAM software to generate g code programs for CNC machines.

  • Identify and troubleshoot machining process issues and provide countermeasures/solutions.

  • Implement tooling and process improvements to reduce cycle time and improve machining quality.

  • Perform Time/Performance studies to quantify process improvements and identify areas for process improvement/cost reductions.

  • Perform tests, gather data, and write reports utilizing various mediums. (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)

  • Develop and maintain training materials on die repair machining processes.

  • Assist with hands-on training for machining/programming tasks and updating process documentation.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software; as well as Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to perform all assigned tasks, work independently, and complete work on schedule.

  • Willing to work in hot/humid, cold, noisy industrial environment.

  • Ability to work in a team setting with Supervisor, Engineers, and Technicians.

  • Ability to develop and execute a detailed plan.

  • Ability to read and comprehend basic English

  • Ability to follow instructions

  • Strong Problems solving skills and efficient management of time and resources.

  • Basic understanding of die repair process and workflow.

Education & Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in engineering or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Prior CNC programming experience.

  • Experience with 2D/3D CAD systems and PowerMILL CAM software preferred.

  • 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to sit/stand/walk 8 hrs. per day

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
