Waterloo, IA, USA | Immigrant and Refugee Community Services | 22 per hour | Full Time

Are you looking to make a positive impact in your community? Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) seeks an Employment Navigator to support employment services for refugee populations through our Immigrant and Refugee Community Services programs in Waterloo. Multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply!

What You'll Do

The Employment Navigator assists newly arrived refugees and other qualified immigrants to attain self-sufficiency through employment by guiding them through employment preparation, coordinating job placements, and other career advancement services. Conduct intake, assessment and provide program orientation to clients eligible for employment services. Develop comprehensive employment plans and budget strategies for each employable adult. Provide job readiness and job search coaching and connect clients with job opportunities. Develop plans to overcome barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment throughout the service period. Maintains written documentation of services and ensures employment services are delivered within the required timeframes and in accordance or organizational and contractual policies.

Must maintain refugee information systems, track assessments and progress. Will facilitate workshops and work readiness courses, schedule workshops and track attendance. The Employment Specialist will maintain and build relationships with community partners, educational organizations and employers.

Daytime hours, with need for flexibility with occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends

What You'll Need

Required: A Bachelor's degree in health or human service related field or one to two years relevant professional experience in workforce development/employment services field ; Linguistic appropriate skills to meet the needs of the clients are desired but not required.

This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
