Role Definition:

The Senior Quality Manager of Caterpillar’s Fuel Systems facility in Pontiac, IL will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System. This role is responsible for setting the vision and long-term strategy for quality excellence, translating that strategy into actionable plans, and driving execution across all levels of the organization. The Senior Quality Manager will collaborate closely with customers, suppliers, and internal business partners to ensure products and processes are aligned with customer expectations. This position plays a key role in fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the facility. This role will lead a team of 40+ quality professionals and report to the Fuel Systems Product Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Own and lead the Quality Management System: Developing, implementing, monitoring, and optimizing quality assurance processes to ensure final products and services are compliant with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Set the vision and strategy for quality excellence: Define long-term goals aligned with business objectives and foster a culture of quality throughout the organization.

  • Translate strategy into actionable tactics: Develop and execute plans to improve product quality, reduce defects, and enhance customer satisfaction through data-driven decision-making.

  • Collaborate closely with customers and business partners: Serve as the primary quality liaison, addressing concerns, managing audits, and ensuring alignment with customer expectations.

  • Lead cross-functional quality initiatives: Partner with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve issues, implement corrective actions, and drive root cause analysis.

  • Recruiting, developing, and leading staff to accomplish personal and organizational goals, adhere to policies/procedures and promote a culture of continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, with 10+ years of quality experience and 5+ years in leadership role

  • Quality Management: Extensive experience with a demonstrated track record of leading quality systems in high-volume manufacturing environments

  • Expertise in quality tools and methodologies, such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, root cause analysis, and corrective action systems

  • Strategy and Execution: Proven leadership in setting and executing quality strategy, including vision development, tactical planning, and cross-functional implementation

  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience managing audits, resolving quality concerns, and driving continuous improvement across the value chain Extensive experience in progressive management

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive experience accurately analyzing situations to reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Problem Solving: Expert on various approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Extensive experience planning, guiding, and monitoring manufacturing processes for compliance.

  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Expertise in identifying the causes of undesirable consequences in a manufacturing environment and the changes needed to prevent recurrences.

Additional Information:

  • Domestic travel may be required up to 10% of the time

  • This is an on-site position in Pontiac, IL.

Summary Pay Range:

$159,120.00 - $238,680.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
