Primary Purpose
Under the direction of the Director of Student Resources, work directly with SNAP Training and Employment Program ( STEP ) eligible students to develop individualized academic/career plans that strengthen skills for employability. Assist STEP students enrolled in Adult Basic Skills, career pathways programs, credit and non-credit courses, and regional WorkSource Oregon clients in their transition to postsecondary education and training at COCC . This position is responsible for the coordination, distribution, and reporting of several state grants including STEP and Pathways to Opportunity ( PTO ).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coaching and Case Management:

Review STEP program referrals from benefit navigators and community partners to determine STEP eligibility.

Develop initial Individual Success Plan with each STEP student, incorporating short and long-term academic and career goals.

Provide regular coaching to students participating in the STEP and PTO programs.

Responsible for calculating, tracking, and reporting all aspects of direct student financial support, including tuition, fees, books, and other funding sources.

Ensure compliance, accuracy, and timely financial disbursements while coordinating with internal departments and external partners for comprehensive student case management and support.

Track and monitor participant progress utilizing a pro-active case management approach, intervening as appropriate to develop successful outcomes.

Assist successful STEP completers with job search preparation, including resume development, interviewing skills, strategic planning, and appropriate use of social media.
Resource Referral:
-
Refer STEP students to benefits navigators and/or other appropriate resources to assist with access to internal and external resources and refer non- STEP eligible students to benefits navigators to assist with gathering resource information.

Refer appropriate candidates to agency partners for enhanced job search activities.
Outreach and Engagement:
-
Educate instructors and WorkSource Oregon staff about COCC postsecondary programs and processes including the STEP , PTO and Career Pathways programs.

Provide information to COCC instructors and staff on all campuses to promote consistent, reliable, and accurate program information to students and WorkSource clients regarding college policies and procedures, degree and program requirements and available resources.

Work collaboratively with the Equity and Well-Being team, as well as with instructors and staff of various departments on the COCC campuses.
Data Tracking and Reporting:

Adhere to FERPA standards and maintain confidentiality of sensitive student information.

Accurately track and report data for monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reports.

Gather, review, and input confidential data into appropriate databases. Generate correspondence, reports, forms, tables, presentations, and student records. Maintain safeguards around confidential and/or sensitive files and documents.

Ability to develop knowledge of basic college degree concepts (degree intent, general education, major, etc.), career readiness principles, and transfer practices.

Ability to produce and work with web-based software and use appropriate technology tools to accomplish the job functions and to collect data and communicate.

Ability to work cooperatively with and contribute to a diverse workplace through ideas or experience.

Ability to understand complex academic environments and provide accurate and timely information to students and instructors and WorkSource clients and staff.

Ergonomic Requirements
Regular office hours are established between 8 am – 5 pm during the workweek. A flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, may be necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities.
Incumbent must be able to function effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to work at a workstation for extended periods. Requires to write, read written materials and computer screens, and ability to use telephonic conversations. Occasional lifting up to 25lbs. All individuals are required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree business administration, psychology, social work, or other field related to this position.
Experience
- Two (2) years of related professional work experience in a setting delivering support services to students and/or clients.
