Job Title: Automation Technician

Job Description

The Automation Technician maintains and supports automated production systems, focusing on robotics and control components to ensure reliable and efficient manufacturing operations. This role involves troubleshooting automation equipment, performing mechanical and electrical repairs, and collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to keep the automation line running at peak performance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and replace automation systems at key points in the production process to ensure consistent and efficient operation.

  • Troubleshoot non-functioning automation components, including sensors and control devices, to quickly identify and resolve issues.

  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on robotics and related automation equipment using hand and power tools.

  • Log equipment usage, parts replacement, and scheduled maintenance activities to track performance and support preventive maintenance planning.

  • Periodically report to Operations leadership regarding automation capabilities, performance, and overall system status.

  • Work directly with vendors specific to the automation line when repairs, malfunctions, or upgrades are required.

  • Support PLC troubleshooting, including motors, relays, and electrical control systems, to maintain reliable production.

  • Interpret and work from electrical and mechanical schematics to diagnose and repair automation equipment.

  • Perform routine electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.

  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to improve automation reliability and address recurring issues.

Essential Skills

  • 13 years of experience in a robotics or mechanical technician role, preferably working with Fanuc robots.

  • Hands-on experience with automation systems in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting, including identifying issues with motors, relays, and control circuits.

  • Strong electrical maintenance and troubleshooting skills.

  • Mechanical repair skills related to robotics and production equipment.

  • Experience using hand tools and electrical tools with an emphasis on robotics repairs.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.

  • Computer skills sufficient to log maintenance activities and equipment usage.

  • Solid understanding of repair and maintenance technician practices in an industrial setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working specifically with Fanuc industrial robots.

  • Experience in both mechanical and electrical repairs on automated production lines.

  • Familiarity with industrial automation, robotics, and control systems.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with equipment vendors and service providers.

  • Strong troubleshooting mindset and attention to detail in diagnosing equipment issues.

Work Environment

This role operates in a manufacturing environment centered around automated production lines and industrial robotics. Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Suffield, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $68640.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
