Full job description

This position oversees the daily maintenance and overall condition of the golf course.

  • Maintain frequent communication with the Director of Golf / Head Golf Professional and Golf Course Superintendent to discuss activities, goals, plans, and the customer impact of maintenance activities.

  • Supervise and maintain the irrigation, drainage, and other water-related golf course systems.

  • Assist with planning, scheduling, instructing, training, and directing crew in the performance of golf course maintenance procedures and job responsibilities.

  • Assumes management responsibilities as needed in the absence of the Superintendent.

  • Ensures that the golf course is maintained to the highest level of quality turf and playing conditions.

  • Communicates with customers, co-workers, and the management team.

  • Able to communicate, as directed, maintenance practices and other turf care-related topics.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Management of Ultra-dwarf bermudagrass and other grasses used on the golf course.

  • Insect, weed, and disease management.

  • Agronomy and turf grass management practices.

  • Irrigation systems operation and repair.

  • Rules and strategies of the game of golf.

  • Golf facility construction principles, practices, and methods.

  • Current federal and state laws for pesticide applications.

  • Be aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns.

Knowledge and level of competency are commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position is usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Must have, or secure, a Pesticide License for the application of chemicals.
