  • Build and maintain the HELM-wide SAFe Architectural Runway, defining shared technical foundations, architectural enablers, integration points, and cross-product capabilities; update quarterly prior to each PI

  • Develop Solution Architecture Packages encompassing business, systems, application, and data architectures for new features and capabilities

  • Ensure all solution architectures align with VA's enterprise strategy, roadmap, and Technical Reference Model

  • Lead architectural assessments to identify reuse opportunities, alignment with Enterprise Architecture, and compatibility with Product Line standards

  • Establish and maintain a HELM Architecture Repository within VA-approved tools, including vetted design patterns, reusable components, solution templates, and interface patterns

  • Provide technical guidance on FHIR, ESB/EAI patterns, API integration, and VA-specific interoperability requirements

  • Support DevSecOps maturity assessments and document compliance gaps and technical readiness

  • Develop and maintain current architecture diagrams (logical, network, dataflow) updated each release

  • Ensure ATO compliance is considered in all architectural decisions; support A&A artifact development

  • Advise on cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, VAEC/Platform One) and cloud migration strategies

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or related field; Master's preferred and 13 years of experience.

  • 10+ years of enterprise architecture experience in large-scale federal IT programs

  • Demonstrated experience with DoDAF and/or UAF architecture frameworks

  • Proficiency with SAFe Agile framework, including Architectural Runway and PI Planning

  • Experience with VA or federal health IT systems (VistA, Oracle Health EHR, iFAMS, MVI, Lighthouse) strongly preferred

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, VAEC) and cloud-native architecture patterns

  • Knowledge of FHIR, ESB/EAI integration frameworks, and API engineering

  • Familiarity with VA TRM, NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5, FedRAMP, and VA Directive 6500

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust and must be US-based
