Job Summary Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the Medical Center. This position plays an important role in infection prevention by thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting patient and non-patient areas, properly handling and disposing of waste, and maintaining equipment and assigned work areas according to established safety and infection control standards.

Essential Functions Performs routine and detailed cleaning and sanitizing of assigned patient and non-patient areas in accordance with established schedules, departmental procedures, and infection prevention guidelines. Cleans and services rooms, common areas, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas to maintain a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment. Collects, removes, and properly disposes of general waste and other designated waste streams according to established procedures. Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed throughout Medical Center departments. Operates assigned cleaning equipment, including floor machines, buffers, and other Environmental Services equipment. Maintains cleaning equipment and supplies in a safe, organized, and working condition. Follows all safety, sanitation, infection control, and hazardous-material handling procedures. Responds to cleaning needs and department requests in a timely and professional manner. Participates in a minimum of eight department or unit meetings annually. Maintains assigned areas in a clean, orderly, safe, and sanitary condition at all times. Performs additional Environmental Services duties as assigned to support the needs of the Medical Center. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and how to apply chemicals safely.
- Working knowledge of various cleaning tools like vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.
