Job Description

An employer of Insight Global is seeking an ICS Systems Engineer to support the Integrated Communications Systems (ICS) product line. This role is focused on the systems engineering "left side of the V" lifecycle, emphasizing requirements development, traceability, system documentation, cybersecurity coordination, and accreditation support. The ICS team serves as a central engineering function and communication system that collaborates across multiple program teams and disciplines to ensure system requirements, interfaces, and compliance activities are properly defined, documented, and managed throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain system, subsystem, and interface requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support the "left side of the V" systems engineering process, including requirements analysis, decomposition, allocation, and traceability.
  • Develop and maintain requirements of traceability matrices and verification planning documentation.
  • Utilize IBM DOORS to manage requirements and configuration-controlled artifacts.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, cybersecurity personnel, and accreditation stakeholders to ensure system compliance requirements are captured and documented.
  • Support system architecture definition and requirements flow-down activities.
  • Collaborate across multiple internal ICS product-line teams to ensure alignment between customer requirements and technical implementation.
  • Participate in technical reviews, requirements reviews, and design discussions.
  • Assist with configuration management and documentation control processes.

Skills and Requirements

  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Experience in Systems Engineering within aerospace, defense, or DoD environments.
  • Experience with requirements management and requirements decomposition.
  • Hands-on experience with IBM DOORS.
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity requirements and accreditation activities.
  • Knowledge of military communications, mission systems, or integrated communication systems.
  • Experience developing Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Familiarity with verification and validation planning.
  • Experience supporting architecture development and systems integration efforts.
  • Understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles.
