About ONE Championship ONE Championship is Asia’s largest global sports media property, and the world’s largest martial arts organization, hosting bouts across all styles of martial arts such as Muay Thai, Kickboxing, MMA, Grappling, etc. In addition to its digital platforms, ONE Championship broadcasts to over 2.6 billion potential viewers across 190 countries around the world with some of the largest global broadcasters, including Amazon Prime Video, Sky Sports, Globo, Channel 7 HD, U-NEXT, Seven Network, Disney+ Hotstar, and more.
Role Overview The Director, Business Development, ONE China will play a critical role in driving ONE Championship’s partnership and commercial priorities in China, with a focus on media rights deals, commercial partnerships (including event host partnerships), digital platform relationships, and key account management. This role is suited for a highly commercial and relationship-driven individual who can identify, structure, negotiate, execute, and grow strategic partnerships in the market. The role requires strong commercial judgment, excellent stakeholder management, disciplined follow-through, and the ability to manage complex partner relationships in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support senior leadership in defining, prioritizing, and executing ONE Championship’s China partnership strategy across media rights, commercial partnerships (including event host partnerships) and strategic accounts.
- Support strategic projects, market development initiatives, and leadership priorities connected to China partnerships and commercial growth.
- Act as a key market-facing representative and trusted day-to-day contact for ONE China, building trusted relationships with broadcasters, digital platforms, brands, agencies, commercial partners, and other strategic stakeholders in China
- Identify, develop, and manage opportunities with broadcasters, digital platforms, streaming services, social video platforms, and other media distribution partners in China.
- Work closely with global media partnerships and internal stakeholders to maximize the value, reach, frequency, engagement, and monetization of ONE content in China
- Work closely with Commercial teams to support negotiation and execution of sponsorships, content partnerships, hosting opportunities, digital platform collaborations, marketing campaigns, and other revenue-generating initiatives.
- Monitor partner performance, content usage, reporting obligations, renewal timelines, rights restrictions, blackout requirements, and upsell opportunities.
- Identify opportunities to deepen existing relationships through renewals, upsells, content extensions and additional commercial collaborations
- Collaborate with cross functional departments such as but not limited to Production and Marketing teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of live, archive, promotional, and non-live content to partners.
- Prepare partner analysis, market updates, commercial proposals, business cases, meeting materials, and executive-level presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain strong awareness of China’s sports, media and entertainment landscape.
Requirements
- At least 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in media rights, commercial partnerships, business development, account management, sports, entertainment, digital media, streaming, broadcast, agency, or digital platform partnerships.
- Strong understanding of China’s media, digital platform, brand partnership, sponsorship, and entertainment ecosystem.
- Proven ability to support or lead complex commercial discussions, partner negotiations, strategic proposals, and executive-level stakeholder management.
- Experience managing key accounts, servicing partners, coordinating deliverables, and driving renewals or incremental revenue opportunities.
- Strong commercial acumen, structured thinking, attention to detail, and ability to balance strategy with hands-on execution.
- Excellent communication, presentation, writing, and negotiation skills in English and Mandarin Chinese.
- Highly organized, proactive, resourceful, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and cross-functional environment.
- Strong relationship-building skills, with the maturity and judgment to engage senior stakeholders internally and externally.
- Passion for sports, media, entertainment, martial arts, live events, and digital content is strongly preferred.
