Job Title: Owners Representative Electrical Construction (Utility-Scale Solar)Job Description
The Owners Representative oversees utility-scale solar construction projects with a strong focus on electrical work, quality control, and safety. This role maintains a regular presence on site, monitors contractor performance, ensures compliance with project specifications and permits, and serves as a key liaison among electrical contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders. The position requires extensive travel to solar, wind, and battery energy storage (BESS) project sites and offers opportunities to develop cross-functional skills in mechanical and materials quality assurance.
Responsibilities

Maintain a regular, consistent presence at the project site during hours when contractors are working to observe activities and support safe, efficient operations.

Act as a safety steward on site, adhering to all safety requirements and procedures established by contractors and the project team, and immediately reporting any safety concerns or deficiencies.

Stop work when necessary if there is immediate danger to employees or equipment, or if there is a significant quality concern that could impact project performance or safety.

Review electrical contractors work procedures to confirm they fully address and comply with the contract Scope of Work.

Monitor the quality of electrical construction and verify compliance with applicable permits, supplier agreements, construction contracts, designs, and technical specifications.

Perform daily visits to construction areas to observe progress, participate in contractor-led quality benchmarks and safety programs, and attend scheduled field testing for electrical work to witness and confirm results are within specifications.

Conduct both spot checks and in-depth inspections of electrical work based on project needs, and serve as a liaison among all electrical contractors on site to facilitate communication and coordination.

Review all termination, energization, and commissioning test reports for accuracy and completeness, and evaluate contractors electrical QA/QC documentation to ensure it meets project requirements.

Assist, as needed, in other disciplines such as mechanical, materials, or broader electrical quality assurance, and actively develop cross-functional skills to support the project.

Establish regular points of connection with contractors by attending Plan of Day (POD) meetings, End of Day (EOD) meetings, and other all-hands or coordination sessions as scheduled by contractors.

Build and maintain positive working relationships with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders, promote collaboration, and recognize and reinforce high-quality work.

Perform regular site visits to participate in quality benchmarks and safety programs led by project contractors, ensuring consistent oversight of construction activities.

Report promptly any deviations or anticipated deviations from project specifications to the project team so that corrective actions can be taken in a timely manner.

Prepare and submit weekly written reports that include detailed records, photographs, and summaries of on-site activities, progress, and key discussions or agreements with contractors, suppliers, transmission providers, site owners, government officials, members of the public, and other relevant parties.

Attend in-office or virtual training sessions and project meetings as required, and apply the knowledge gained from these sessions to daily work on the project.

Use the projects construction management software to prepare reports, store and review documentation, track issues, and complete other project-related tasks.

Participate in virtual meetings and review project documentation when not physically on site to remain engaged with project progress and support timely decision-making.
Essential Skills
-
At least 4 years of electrical experience on utility-scale solar projects.
-
Hands-on experience with electrical construction in utility-scale environments, including medium voltage systems and DC collections.
-
Strong background in quality control and QA/QC for electrical construction activities.
-
Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, designs, and technical specifications.

Experience working with utility-scale technologies and equipment, such as Nextracker and ATI systems.

Demonstrated ability to oversee contractors and ensure adherence to scope of work, permits, and construction agreements.

Owners Representative experience in utility-scale projects is highly preferred; experience with EPC organizations is strongly considered.

Solid understanding of safety practices and regulations related to electrical construction on large-scale renewable energy projects.

Ability to travel extensively and work at remote solar, wind, and BESS project sites.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Prior experience acting as an owners representative on large renewable energy projects.

Work Environment
This role is based entirely in the field and requires 100% travel to utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage (BESS) project sites. Work is performed primarily outdoors on active construction sites, often in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment and electrical infrastructure. The position involves regular site walks, participation in safety programs, attendance at daily coordination meetings, and close interaction with contractors and subcontractors. You will also spend time in temporary site offices and in virtual or in-office meetings for training, documentation review, and reporting. A reliable vehicle is required for travel between project locations, and mileage-based car allowances, gas reimbursement, and trip-home support are provided. The role uses construction management software and standard office technology for documentation and communication. Paid time off, paid holidays, and phone reimbursement are offered as part of the benefits package.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
