Summary

Note: The utilization of Fee Basis appointments is centered on the service needs rather than a specified tour of duty. ***** Selected candidates can expect to make up to $80 per group facilitated.**** West Pal Beach VA is seeking a Fee Basis Tai/chi Instructor . The candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive patient histories, examinations, diagnoses, and treatments of medical conditions

Duties

This is an open continuous announcement that will remain open until filled. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Eligible applicants will be referred each week for consideration until a selection is made. Duties include but not limited to the following; Tai Chi/Qigong Instructors are responsible for independently conducting tai chi and qigong well-being classes. Tai Chi/Qigong Instructors develop and share educational information including written instruction for 'at home' and 'self-care' practices with class participants. They prepare and set up tai chi and/or qigong equipment to support scheduled events and activities ensuring that class areas are clean, safe and set according to procedures. They are responsible for planning and coordinating with other staff members the details of tai chi/qigong activities to make maximum use of facilities, services and other resources (for example, maintaining a calendar of events). They may develop a calendar or schedule of classes for participants based on facility needs. Tai Chi/Qigong Instructors conduct regular inventories and ensure that all supply and equipment requirements are identified/justified and requested through proper channels and that any equipment/facility problems are reported to the management team. Tai Chi/Qigong Instructors may develop promotional material based on current research that informs healthcare providers and patients about the benefits of tai chi and/or qigong to encourage participation. They are also responsible for identifying and sharing with patients the tai chi and/or qigong resources that are available in the local community. Tai Chi/Qigong Instructors act as mentors to Tai Chi and/or Qigong Instructor trainees and new employees. Communicate effectively with leadership with issues surrounding tai chi and/or qigong and discuss program progress related to utilization, patient outcomes, satisfaction, etc. Instructors evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing tai chi/qigong programs from the standpoint of participant response, resources, unforeseen developments and program objectives in order to develop best practices. Requirements

U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Subject to background/security investigation. Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process. Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued dentification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment physical examination as required by VA Handbook 5019. This examination is administered by VA Occupational Health. This position requires moderate lifting up to 44 lbs., carrying objects up to 15 lbs., frequent reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, hands and legs, use of cranes and motor vehicles, walking & standing up to 8 hours, bending and climbing and able to hear whisper. The incumbent must be physically, emotionally and mentally stable in order to efficiently perform the essential functions of this position without hazard to themselves or others.
