Full job description

The Louisiana Special School District (LSSD) is an education service agency that provides services to the Louisiana Special Schools (Louisiana School for the Deaf, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired and Special School Programs).The schools provide educational opportunities to students with low-incidence disabilities and a variety of unique needs.

The Human Resources Analyst A, B, C, or Specialist will assist with day-to-day HR functions including hiring, onboarding, employee support, and compliance. This position plays a key role in maintaining effective HR operations and supporting our workforce.

AN IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES

  • Communicating Effectively: The ability to convey information, ideas, and emotions using structured communication methods that promote understanding engagement.

  • Demonstrating Accountability: The ability to take ownership of actions, behaviors, performance, decisions, and outcomes.

  • Following Policies and Procedures: The ability to follow, reinforce, adapt, or develop policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state legal requirements, State Civil Service rules, and organizational policies.

  • Making Accurate Judgments: The ability to assess options, weigh risks, and make sound decisions using available information and logical reasoning.

Three years of human resources experience; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR

A bachelor’s degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.   • Classification and Compensation
  • Knowledge of State Civil Service (DSCS) Rules, State and Federal laws, SSD policies and procedures, and school system operations.
  • Knowledge of the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) Bulletin 1491, 'Teacher Benefit Law", and Bulletin 746, "LA Standards for State Certification of School Personnel

Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional. The chosen application will be required to take a probationary appointment. Location: The Human Resources Specialist position is located in the Human Resources Department at the Louisiana Special School District. Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Human Resources Analyst A, B, C, or Human Resources Specialist depending on the qualifications of the selected applicant. Work Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.
