Summary
This is a Title 32 Excepted Service Position This National Guard position is for a NURSING (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH), Position Description Number D1234P01 and is part of the NJJFHQ, National Guard. The primary purpose of this position is to manage a comprehensive Occupational Health Program for the state.
Duties
As a NURSING (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH), GS-0018-12, you will perform the following duties and responsibilities: Plans, develops, analyses, and reviews occupational health nursing services and program requirements and determines impact on National Guard military and civilian personnel and public health. Serves as a liaison between all State, NGB and Federal organizations concerning occupational health programs and services. Evaluates and administers comprehensive occupational health programs, services and capabilities for military and civilian personnel in the work environment to include field operations, garrison, industrial and administrative sites. Provides occupational health services and medical treatment for non-occupational and occupational health illnesses. Coordinates with other DoD agencies, other federal agencies (e.g., OSHA, Center for Disease Control, etc.), and State agencies (e.g., State Departments of Health, State Environmental Quality, State Natural Resources, State Laboratories, etc.) regarding evaluation of toxicological data. Requires ability to review medical and other information pertinent to the OWCP claims. Evaluates new claims from a medical perspective to assist in determining whether the agency will controvert the claim. Collects data and prepares final reports on health education efforts. Establishes quality improvement monitoring systems and evaluating criteria. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements

Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Military Grade: Min: 2nd Lt/ 2LT/O-1 and Max: Maj/MAJ/O-4 Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a military unit compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position. Military Unit -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1) MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS For entry into this specialty, normal color vision as defined by referenced authorities. Freedom from fear of heights (acrophobia). No history of emotional instability, personality disorder, or other unresolved mental health problems. No record of claustrophobia or claustrophobic tendencies. No medical conditions preventing prolonged standing, repetitive movements, walking up to one mile, or walking up and down stairs. Qualifications
General Experience(s): Must be certified at the GS-0018-11 level to be eligible for the GS-0018-12 level Must have a minimum of one year on-the-job experience as a GS-11 Specialized Experience: To qualify for this position, you must have 36 months of the following Specialized Experience Performing periodic onsite surveys, to determine compliance with applicable occupational safety standards Preparing or revising safety instructions and guides Advising personnel of appropriate safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes which may cause mishaps Investigating mishaps, obtaining statements from witnesses, and photographing mishap scenes Recording circumstances of mishaps and extent of injuries, preparing final report(s) of findings with recommendations to correct the unsafe acts or conditions which caused injuries or property damage Your resume must clearly define this experience.
Education
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Health Physicist (CHP), or similar certification that included successful completion of a written examination.
