  • Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensure appropriate imaging and continuity of patient care.
  • Supports scheduling of personnel to provide adequate coverage during all hours of operation, using flexible staffing when appropriate.
  • Serves as a resource to department staff and other team members as needed.
  • Performs team member orientation, training, and coaching, and provides input for performance evaluations.
  • Promotes a positive patient experience by ensuring service excellence, effective communication, and the delivery of timely, high-quality care by the team.
  • Oversees quality control testing, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
  • Stays current with evolving MR safety standards and participating in ongoing education to support departmental safety culture.
  • Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.
  • Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.
  • Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.
  • Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).
  • Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Maintenance of all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures [Required]
  • Understanding of Basic Radiation Safety concepts to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]
  • Ability to perform procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision [Required]
  • Basic IV skills and the ability to work well in a constantly changing environment [Required]
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts, including weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts [Required]
  • Understanding of medical terminology and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals [Required]
  • Knowledge of the use of computerized and radiographic equipment to perform diagnostic procedures with minimal radiation exposure and maximum image quality [Required]
  • Ability to deal efficiently, ethically, and courteously with all patients and hospital personnel [Required]
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication that addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient population served [Required]
  • Ability to interact professionally and ethically with patients and physicians [Required]
  • Ability to produce high-quality imaging with little supervision and assist Radiologists in the interpretation of exams [Required]
  • Function effectively in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating flexibility, reliability, sound judgment, initiative, and familiar with age-specific criteria [Required]

Education:

  • High School Grad or Equiv [Required]​
  • Associate [Preferred]
  • Bachelor's [Preferred]

Work Experience:

  • 3+ years experience [Preferred]
