Job Description

Team Summary

Payment Success (PSR) is a specialized capability within Sales Engineering that focuses on improving client payment performance through data‑driven diagnostics, deep technical expertise, and consultative engagement. The team partners cross‑functionally to identify and resolve payment friction, while enabling Sales teams to embed payment performance insights into standard solutioning and commercial discussions across Asia Pacific.

What a Senior Manager, Payments Success, Asia Pacific does at Visa:

The Senior Manager, Payments Success (Asia Pacific) is responsible for scaling, governing, and continuously improving PSR capabilities across the Visa Acceptance Solutions (VAS) Sales organization in the region.

This role ensures that PSR operates as a consistent, repeatable, and commercially effective capability, rather than a bespoke or specialist‑dependent service. The Senior Manager drives adoption of PSR methodologies, provides senior‑level technical leadership for complex client engagements, and enables Sales teams to independently recognize, position, and execute payment performance conversations with confidence.

Drive regional PSR strategy and operating model:

  • Lead regional initiatives to improve merchant authorization and overall payment performance across Asia Pacific, working in close partnership with Sales, Product, Risk, and Client Success teams.

  • Define and maintain a regional PSR operating framework, including engagement standards, prioritization principles, and execution governance to ensure consistent delivery quality and outcomes.

  • Support conversion of qualified PSR opportunities by aligning stakeholders, clarifying ownership, and ensuring disciplined execution from engagement scoping through delivery.

Provide senior technical leadership on payment performance:

  • Act as a regional subject matter leader on payment performance topics, including authorization optimization, decline analysis, fraud and risk considerations, EMV 3DS / payer authentication, and tokenization.

  • Guide complex, multimarket client discussions by translating payment data and technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Coordinate cross functional solutioning for systemic payment performance challenges, ensuring recommendations are practical, implementable, and aligned with product capabilities.

Enable scale through standardization and enablement:

  • Develop and maintain PSR standards, best practices, and reusable materials that enable Sales Engineering and Sales teams to apply payment performance insights consistently across markets and client segments.

  • Partner with Sales leadership to deliver targeted enablement and coaching that strengthens teams’ ability to position PSR driven value propositions and support cross sell and upsell opportunities.

  • Establish mechanisms to track PSR adoption and impact, using insights to continuously refine methodologies and guidance.

Monitor trends and drive continuous improvement:

  • Oversee regional analysis of authorization and payment performance trends, identifying key drivers and emerging issues across markets, verticals, and payment flows.

  • Assess the impact of new products, services, industry developments, and regulatory or ecosystem changes on payment performance, and translate implications into actionable guidance for internal teams and clients.

Why this is important to Visa:

This role helps ensure payment performance insights are applied credibly, consistently, and at scale across Asia Pacific. By institutionalizing PSR methodologies and strengthening technical leadership, the Senior Manager enables Sales teams to engage more effectively with complex clients, accelerates value realization from Acceptance Solutions, and reinforces Visa’s position as a trusted partner in payment optimization.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

What you will need:

  • The ideal candidate has solid payments experience and excels in payment success or performance consulting, blending technical expertise with a results-focused approach.

  • 10+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, payments, or customer‑facing technical roles, with a strong track record of delivering measurable client and revenue outcomes.

  • Experience operating in the Asia Pacific region, with strong familiarity across Southeast Asia markets.

  • Demonstrated ownership mindset - revenue‑driven, accountable, and comfortable operating in ambiguous or greenfield environments.

  • Proven ability to scale technical or consultative capabilities through enablement, standardization, and repeatable engagement models within matrixed, regional organizations.

  • End‑to‑end payments expertise, spanning issuer‑side authorization, fraud and risk considerations, payment gateways, EMV 3DS / payer authentication, tokenization, domestic rails, and alternative payment methods.

  • Strong understanding of Visa and Acceptance Solutions products, with practical experience translating configuration, integration, and optimization decisions into improved payment outcomes.

  • Demonstrated ability to support complex, multi‑stakeholder client engagements, contributing to cross‑sell and up‑sell initiatives through value‑driven technical leadership.

  • Strong technical depth in payment integrations, including API-based web services (REST, SOAP), common programming languages (Java, Python, JSON, XML, HTML) and API testing tools like Postman.

  • Skilled in deep technical troubleshooting, including API payload analysis, end-to-end transaction tracing, and collaborating with engineering teams on log and code level analysis.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to analyze payment data using SQL or BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qliksense, MicroStrategy), and clearly present insights to both technical and executive audiences.

What will also help:

  • Understanding of bank payment flows and issuer‑side decisioning, including retail and commercial banking contexts.

  • Familiarity with merchant business models (retail, digital commerce, marketplaces), including pricing sensitivity, commercial trade‑offs, and conversion optimization drivers.

  • Knowledge of merchant acquiring models and challenges, including onboarding, commercial constructs, and operational considerations.

  • Strong understanding of the merchant payments ecosystem, including acquirers, payment facilitators, ISVs, technology vendors, POS, storefront, and shopping cart platforms.

  • Prior experience handling complex payment escalations across APIs, gateways, and authentication flows, working cross‑functionally to drive root‑cause resolution.

Projects you will be a part of:

You will be required to work closely with regional and country Sales, internal risk and product teams to ensure success. The success of the role will be measured upon the growth of revenue based on the payment success rate of key clients of Visa. You will also be driving the commercialization aspects of this consultation to further monetize the value chain that we bring to our clients.
