About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and service-oriented WIC Nutrition Aide to join the WIC team at Cornell Scott–Hill Health Center. Reporting to the WIC Site Nutritionist, this role provides nutrition education and support to low-risk child participants while ensuring accurate and timely documentation. The position also supports the WIC certification process and contributes to a welcoming, respectful experience for participants throughout their interactions with the program.
This position is ideal for someone with strong communication, organizational, customer service, and clerical skills who thrives in a fast-paced, community-focused healthcare environment. The successful candidate will be a collaborative, detail-oriented professional who is comfortable communicating with participants both orally and in writing, managing multiple administrative responsibilities, scheduling appointments, responding to phone calls, and supporting the delivery of WIC services in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Cornell Scott–Hill Health Center.
Key Responsibilities
Certification & Administrative Support:

Assists with WIC applicant certification, including collecting and entering eligibility information into CT-WIC.

Responds to phone calls, voicemails, emails, and participant inquiries; assists with scheduling and rescheduling appointments.

Completes required paperwork, maintains accurate records, and prepares program materials as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned by the WIC Program Manager/Site Nutritionist.
Nutrition Services:

Provides and documents participant-centered nutrition education for low-risk children.

Collects and records anthropometric and hematological data.

Provides referrals to appropriate health and community resources.

Issues, tailors, and reviews WIC benefits and schedules follow-up appointments.

Promotes breastfeeding and supports participant continuity of care.

Participates in required training and continuing education.

Performs other duties as assigned by the WIC Program Manager/Site Nutritionist.
Required Qualifications
-
High School Diploma or GED required.
-
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical office or clerical setting.

Excellent customer service skills with a positive and professional attitude.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to greet and establish rapport with individuals.

Basic computer and telephone skills required.

Ability to successfully complete the WIC Paraprofessional Training Program within one year of hire.

Spanish-speaking skills highly encouraged.
-
Valid driver’s license required.

Reliable vehicle required, with the ability to travel throughout Connecticut as needed.

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds, with reasonable accommodation available as needed.
