Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Accountant II is responsible for applying principles of accounting in performing special analyses and studies as assigned.
Education
- Required - Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance with a minimum of twenty-four hours of college level Accounting courses
Minimum Requirements

Required - Minimum of 3 years of accounting work experience

Preferred - Prior public sector experience
Licenses, Certifications and/or Testing
- Required - Pre-employment Background Check & Drug Screen Upon Hire
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-
Proficiency with personal computers, tablets, and/or other electronic devices to include familiarity with, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and enterprise wide software (e.g., SAP). (Intermediate proficiency)

Ability to learn new or upgraded computer software as required.
-
Efficient written and verbal communication skills, in English, to assist internal and external customers, co-workers and management professionally, regardless of provocation.
Essential Functions
-
Making special analyses, studies, statistical reports, and comparisons of items, such as revenues, installation of meters, services and mains, operating and maintenance expenses.

Prepare journal entries and review ledgers.
-
Review and prepare statements on reimbursable jobs to be billed/refunded.
-
Prepare reports, such as statistical report, sewer use fee, and insurance valuation.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports.
-
Write detailed accounting instructions and procedures.

Discuss accounting problems with divisional supervisors and vice presidents.
-
Assist accounting clerks in balancing ledgers or performing this work as required.

Prepare costing analysis for appropriate cost allocations and pricing.

Fulfill responsibilities common to all Supervisory, Professional, and Administrative positions as stated.
