About the Position: The Social Worker (Clinical) provides support to the A. T. Augusta Military Medical Center in Fort Belvoir VA, helping ensure consistent, high-quality patient care and facility operations. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

• Provide treatment to highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses.
• Collect biopsychosocial information about patients through interview, case history, observation techniques, and other assessment methods.
• Analyze information collected to identify symptoms, determine psychiatric diagnosis and develop treatment plan.
• Evaluate results of counseling methods to determine the effectiveness of treatment used.
• Independently provide comprehensive social work services in the form of casework and case management by consulting on or developing discharge plans.
• Provide individual, family, and group clinical counseling services using various evidenced based modalities as clinically indicated for adults and children.
• Provide emergency on-call crisis management services for mental health cases.

Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Clinical): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. AND License: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted independent social work clinical licensure from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required. (Note: You must attach a copy of your license.) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting biopsychosocial evaluations for patients, including children and adolescents; providing individual and group counseling; and developing treatment plans for patients, including children and adolescents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11) Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
