Job Description

  • Install, program, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fire alarm, life safety, security, and building automation systems, escalating complex issues when necessary.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and specifications to complete installations and service work.
  • Utilize standard test equipment and hand tools to diagnose issues and restore system functionality.
  • Apply knowledge of applicable building, fire, sprinkler, and mechanical codes to ensure compliance.
  • Mentor and support junior technicians by providing technical guidance and training.
  • Commission new systems, perform functional testing, analyze system performance, and develop routine system programming.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by serving as a trusted technical resource and ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve complex operational, maintenance, and warranty-related issues.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, installation practices, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Execute technical project activities including programming, graphics development, system startup, certification testing, customer training, documentation, and ongoing support.
  • Identify project risks, communicate concerns proactively, and assist in developing mitigation strategies to maintain schedules and budgets.
  • Partner with Fire Alarm Designers to ensure systems meet all applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Operations Managers to coordinate project execution, maintain quality standards, manage scope changes, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience installing enterprise-level fire alarm systems
  • NICET 1
  • Comfortable operating an aerial lift up to 20 feet in the air
  • Experience programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning Edwards or equivalent fire alarm systems.
  • Valid Drivers license
  • Ability to commute to Chantilly/surrounding areas daily
  • Associate degree in Electronics or related field including equivalent military experience
  • EST 3/4 Certification
  • NICET Level II
