Missouri Baptist Medical Center Missouri Baptist Medical Center is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) II to join its laboratory team as a Generalist . This is an excellent opportunity for a certified laboratory professional who enjoys working in a collaborative hospital environment and performing a broad range of laboratory testing.

Schedule

  • Full-time

  • Night Shift

  • 1830-0700 (3 12-hour shifts per week)

  • Weekend and holiday rotation required

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related laboratory science field

  • MLT (ASCP), AMT, or equivalent certification preferred/required

  • Strong generalist laboratory skills and commitment to quality patient care

  • Ability to perform testing across multiple laboratory disciplines in a fast-paced hospital environment

Overview

Missouri Baptist Medical Center , an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) II (REG) performs specimen processing and routine / complex testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities as required. Demonstrates good laboratory practice

Responsibilities

  • Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.

  • Documents patient test management problems/concerns on quality documents and initiates corrective action.

  • Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Monitors quality control performance and corrects any problems and or reports any problems to the appropriate department.

  • Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs laboratory procedures for specimen collection, processing, test analysis.

  • Trains new personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
