Full job description
About Linero Linero is building the operational infrastructure that ensures the world's most sensitive technologies reach the right hands, and never the wrong ones. Our customers include some of the most consequential companies in the world: leading AI labs, aerospace and defense primes, semiconductor giants, quantum computing pioneers, and companies pushing the frontier in chemicals, advanced manufacturing, and robotics. We are an AI-native, venture-backed company creating a new category of software at the intersection of national security, industrial infrastructure, and enterprise AI.
The Role As a Senior Export Control Specialist at Linero, you will be a core member of the team and the company’s subject-matter expert on U.S. export-control regulations. A central part of your role will be performing export-control classifications across a wide range of products, technologies, software, and technical data. You will work across both EAR and ITAR, determining the appropriate jurisdiction and classification and developing clear, defensible records supporting those determinations. You will work closely with teams across Linero and engage with complex regulatory questions where precision, technical understanding, and sound judgment are critical.
What You'll Own
-
Perform and own EAR and ITAR jurisdiction and classification analyses across products, components, software, technology, and technical data.
-
Review technical documentation and work directly with engineers and other technical stakeholders to gather and resolve the information needed for accurate classifications.
-
Produce clear, defensible, audit-ready classification determinations, including the supporting rationale and evidence.
-
Research complex or ambiguous classification questions, including relevant regulations, agency guidance, and precedents, and identify when escalation or government guidance may be appropriate.
-
Stay current on regulatory developments and assess their implications for classification and jurisdictional analysis.
What We're Looking For
-
Demonstrated hands-on expertise with both EAR and ITAR classification.
-
Strong command of the Commerce Control List, ECCNs, EAR99, U.S. Munitions List Categories, and ITAR jurisdictional analysis.
-
Ability to independently analyze technically complex products and reach well-reasoned, defensible classification conclusions.
-
Experience working with engineers or other technical stakeholders to understand product functionality, performance, specifications, and end use.
-
Strong regulatory research skills and the ability to interpret dense, nuanced regulatory text.
-
Exceptional written communication; your classification rationales are precise, clear, and capable of standing up to internal or regulatory scrutiny.
-
Strong judgment around uncertainty; you know when the available information supports a conclusion and when additional information or escalation is required.
-
Highly detail-oriented and comfortable working across a large volume of technically and legally complex matters.
-
Intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand not just the regulation, but the technologies to which it applies.
-
Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment and helping build processes from the ground up.
-
Preference for candidates based in New York City, though we are also open to exceptional remote candidates.
What We Offer
-
Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
-
Early equity in a company with proven market demand and a clear growth trajectory.
-
Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision.
-
A high-ownership, high-autonomy environment where your work has direct and visible impact.
-
A leading role in one of the most consequential technology buildouts of our time.
Equal Opportunity & Eligibility
-
Linero is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
-
This role requires access to export-controlled information. Applicants must be U.S. persons (citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees) as defined under applicable U.S. law.
-
Start date is immediate, with flexibility for the right candidate.
Compensation Range: $150K - $200K
