Job Description

This position is responsible for the administration of the site Quality Management System of the Food Service operation in accordance to the programs and standards required by the Food sector to provide services to public and government sector customers. This position will also optimize and oversee laboratory Quality Systems to support accreditation programs, as well as compliance with applicable Canadian, US and international standards and regulations not limited to ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025.

  • Monitor and maintain quality system in compliance with ISO/IEC17025 standards and regulations.
  • Ensure that objectives of the quality programs are defined and communicated at all sites
  • Develop and implement quality assurance strategies, policies and procedures
  • Keep abreast of regulatory requirements and trends.
  • Maintain appropriate laboratory accreditations.
  • Supervise document control and training functions.
  • Recommend training and conducts internal training as necessary.
  • Provide expert advice and/or train staff on processes and procedures.
  • Host regulatory agency and customer compliance audits of the laboratory, including overseeing the preparation of the facilities for such audits.
  • Review and coordinate all site-specific responses to regulatory agencies and client audits and corrective action commitments within agreed upon timelines.
  • Manage internal audit schedules of all major systems of laboratory operation and ensures that audits are performed according to established timelines.
  • Supervise the scheduling and conduct of equipment qualification and calibration.
  • Liaise with other Managers/Supervisors to enhance existing Quality Management Systems for compliance and operating efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Hold annual quality system review and periodic management review sessions.
  • Liaise with other Managers/Supervisors in response to customer quality complaints and claims.
  • Maintain corrective and preventive action program to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Works with the lab personnel to continuously improve lab products and services.
  • May be assigned and coordinate special or ad hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related science degree Required
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of proven technical Quality Assurance experience and strong knowledge in analytical laboratory operations and services. Required
  • 5 years of experience in Quality Management Systems (preferably to ISO/IEC 17025 standard) and international regulations would be an asset Preferred
