Job Description

Mechanical System Engineering

  • Support the design review, planning, and execution of HVAC, piping, plumbing, utility, and other mechanical systems.

  • Review drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure technical accuracy and constructability.

  • Identify and resolve engineering issues throughout project execution. Project Coordination

  • Collaborate with project management, field supervision, subcontractors, and design teams to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Coordinate mechanical installation activities to align with project schedules and milestones.

  • Participate in design meetings, construction planning sessions, and client discussions. Technical Support & Problem Solving

  • Provide field engineering support during installation, startup, commissioning, and turnover activities.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical system issues and propose practical solutions to minimize project impacts.

  • Support quality control efforts and verify conformance to project requirements. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all mechanical work is performed in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.

  • Support jobsite safety initiatives and participate in safety reviews and audits.

  • Assist in risk identification and mitigation planning. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain engineering documentation, RFIs, submittals, design changes, and project records.

  • Support project reporting, tracking progress, and resolving technical issues in a timely manner.

  • Assist with commissioning documentation and final project closeout.

Insight Global is looking for a Technical Mechanical Engineer to support the planning, design, installation, and execution of complex mechanical systems on large-scale industrial and manufacturing construction projects. This role will partner closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to ensure mechanical systems are designed and installed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications. The ideal candidate is hands-on, technically strong, and enjoys solving complex engineering challenges in a construction environment.

$50/hr to $62/hr Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, construction, or mechanical systems projects.
  • Experience with mechanical building systems including HVAC, piping, plumbing, compressed air, process utilities, or related infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
