Sr. Accountant

Description

Sr Accountant role in Denton with Government Agency who offers outstanding benefits and growth opportunities.

The responsibilities of the role include:

• Administer and coordinate activities of the grant fund operations, which includes developing, monitoring, enhancing, and maintaining all accounting functions related to grant and Project Accounting Systems.

• Perform professional accounting tasks such as maintaining and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting records

• Monitor and record bond project reporting

• Review operations and budget funds to assure compliance with internal policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting principles

• Perform special projects as assigned, which require a high level of understanding of accounting theory and concepts

• Administer, coordinate, and review cost allocation studies prepared by outside agencies

• Contribute to and/or lead the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).

• Guide and support junior accountants.

• Stay current in Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) pronouncements and changes in the accounting profession.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Knowledge of fund accounting, Federal and State funding, rate setting, cost-of-service evaluation, create of long-term financial forecasts and planning.

• Skill at the intermediate level, working with applicable Microsoft Office 365 products, and other software systems to complete work.

• Ability to navigate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and automation tools (e.g., Power BI, AI-driven accounting software

Requirements

Bachelors in Accounting + 4 years of Experience OR Masters in Accounting + 2 years of Experience
