Manager/Solution ArchitectDeloitte's Industrial Data Operations (IDO) practice helps clients turn plant-floor data into a trusted, reusable enterprise asset that powers operational excellence, connected enterprises, and digital transformation. We bring together people, processes, and technology to connect industrial assets and systems, contextualize data across IT and OT environments, govern data quality and access, and deliver reliable information for analytics and decision-making. Our work enables capabilities such as production performance, factory synchronization, predictive maintenance, supply chain visibility, digital twins, and AI-enabled manufacturing applications-creating the scalable data foundation organizations need to move beyond brittle point-to-point solutions and realize value from their digital investments.

Work you'll doYou will serve as the platform-agnostic industrial data architecture authority, leading foundation advisory and implementation workstreams across operational technology (OT), edge, and enterprise environments. You will define the OT-up architecture, including Unified Namespace (UNS) design, ISA-95 asset modeling, contextualization strategy, and integration topology across historian systems, edge platforms, and enterprise systems. You will also act as the technical voice in vice president- and director-level client conversations, translating plant-floor realities into practical architecture decisions.

In this role, you will partner closely with delivery leadership, handing off the cloud data platform layer to the Delivery Manager while continuing to guide the industrial data architecture. On Cognite Data Fusion (CDF) engagements, you will work with the Cognite Platform Architect to align architecture decisions with platform capabilities. This role is designed for someone with a controls or automation background who has moved into data architecture, or an OT integration lead from a vendor or systems integrator environment. You should be comfortable walking a plant floor, reading a piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID), and translating between operations and IT, with deep familiarity in at least two of the following: ISA-95/ISA-88 standards, OPC UA/UNS, historian systems, or edge platforms.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in controls/automation engineering, OT integration, or industrial data architecture, including 5+ years leading architecture work across OT, edge, and enterprise environments and experience with a vendor or systems integrator.

  • 5+ years defining OT-up architecture, including 2+ years designing UNS architecture and ISA-95 asset models from scratch.

  • 5+ years designing connections among historian systems, edge platforms, and enterprise systems within industrial data architectures.

  • 5+ years leading foundation advisory and implementation workstreams for industrial data or OT integration programs.

  • Ability to serve as the technical voice in vice president- and director-level client conversations.

  • 5+ years translating between operations/OT and IT/enterprise stakeholders.

  • 3+ years of firsthand plant-floor experience, including reading and working from P&IDs.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with two or more of the following: ISA-95/ISA-88, OPC UA/UNS, historian systems, or edge platforms.

  • 5+ years maintaining a platform-agnostic architecture perspective while aligning designs to implementation needs.

  • 3+ years coordinating architecture handoffs to cloud data platform delivery leaders.

  • 3+ years partnering with platform architects, including Cognite Platform Architects on Cognite Data Fusion engagements where applicable.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, or at least 8 years of equivalent practical experience.

  • Ability to travel an average of 50% of working time based on client and industry needs.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

  • Comfortable coordinating with platform solution architects or alliance teams for platform-specific design support.

  • Strong client communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.

  • Data integration patterns between OT source systems and cloud analytics platforms.

  • Experience designing or overseeing lakehouse schemas, time-series data mapping, cloud landing zone architecture, and data pipeline patterns.

  • Ability to review data engineering deliverables in enough technical depth to identify architectural issues, integration risks, and design gaps.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $155,600 to $306,800.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
