We are seeking a Retail Route Merchandiser to represent Five Star across client locations by ensuring vending machines and micro-markets are fully stocked, clean, and visually appealing. This role is ideal for self-motivated individuals who enjoy working independently, building customer relationships, driving safely, and taking pride in delivering exceptional service. You’ll be the face of Five Star — delivering snacks, drinks, and fresh food that keep our customers happy while helping grow our business through excellent service and upselling opportunities.

What Five Star Has To Offer

  • Paid vacation after 6 months.

  • Seven paid holidays after 90 days.

  • 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match.

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans (individual and family coverage).

  • Voluntary FSA, life insurance, and short/long-term disability options.

  • Opportunity to support our 501(c)3 charity, Feeding the Future, Inc., which provides over 500,000 meals annually to children in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver & merchandise products — Load, transport, and stock soft drinks, coffee, snacks, fresh food, and sundries at client locations; handle on-site billing and order verification.

  • Stock & rotate inventory — Replenish vending machines, micro markets, coolers, and shelves using FIFO; face product forward per plan-o-grams; remove items at or near best-by date.

  • Maintain food safety — Date and handle perishables correctly, ensure proper refrigeration, log and report temperatures that exceed safety thresholds.

  • Clean & service equipment — Sanitize vending and market equipment; perform minor repairs (filters, brewer heads, bulbs, receipt paper); report out-of-service machines to management.

  • Manage cash & records — Collect cash/coins, accurately record all transactions on delivery tickets and handheld devices, and reconcile inventory per company SOP.

  • Support customers & promotions — Resolve service complaints, set up promotional displays, and communicate new products or services on behalf of management.

  • Ensure safety & compliance — Follow DOT regulations, company safety and loss prevention guidelines; report theft, vandalism, unsafe conditions, or shortages immediately.

  • Operate & maintain assigned vehicle — Complete daily pre-trip inspections, keep vehicle and storage areas clean, use assigned fuel card properly, and report maintenance needs.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Must be able to consent to a drug screen and pre-employment background check.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the route.

  • Must be 21 to meet DOT requirements.
