Senior IAM Engineer

Job Description

Day-to-Day Responsibilities Lead and support enterprise identity modernization initiatives focused on Microsoft Entra ID. Design, implement, and maintain identity and access management solutions across hybrid and cloud environments. Develop and execute migration strategies from on-premises Active Directory to Microsoft Entra ID. Assess current identity architecture and recommend improvements to security, scalability, and governance. Configure and manage Entra ID integrations, Azure applications, authentication methods, and identity lifecycle processes. Partner with infrastructure, security, application, and business teams to gather requirements and implement IAM solutions. Monitor the health, performance, and security of identity platforms and proactively address issues. Troubleshoot complex authentication, authorization, and identity-related incidents. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members and stakeholders. Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to long-term cloud identity strategy. Core Responsibilities Own the design and administration of Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory environments. Lead identity migration efforts, including planning, execution, testing, and post-migration support. Develop best practices around identity governance, access controls, and authentication. Support enterprise application onboarding and integration with identity platforms. Create technical documentation, migration plans, and operational procedures. Ensure IAM solutions align with security, compliance, and business requirements. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive successful identity initiatives. Serve as a technical escalation point for complex IAM-related issues.

Skills and Requirements

7-10+ years of experience in Identity and Access Management, Systems Engineering, or related infrastructure roles. Expert-level experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD). Strong hands-on Active Directory administration and architecture experience. Proven experience leading enterprise-scale migrations from on-prem Active Directory to cloud identity solutions. Deep understanding of hybrid identity environments and synchronization technologies. Experience developing migration strategies and executing complex identity transformation projects. Strong knowledge of authentication, authorization, identity governance, and access management concepts. Experience integrating enterprise applications with identity platforms. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex IAM issues independently. Strong communication skills with experience partnering directly with business stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively in a highly cross-functional and in-person team environment. Experience with large enterprise environments undergoing cloud transformation. Experience with Entra ID Governance, Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and identity lifecycle management. Strong Azure cloud experience beyond identity services. Experience supporting financial services or highly regulated environments. Experience with enterprise-scale identity security and compliance initiatives. Previous experience mentoring engineers or acting as a technical lead. Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator, or related Microsoft certifications. Experience with modern authentication protocols including SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and Federation services.
