Requirements:

Escorts patients within the Medical Center to and from patient units via appropriate means of transportation (e.g., wheelchair, bed, stretcher). Assists Nursing with lifting patient when requested.

Transports deceased patients to morgue.

Maintains records of assignments, including description of person/item, time of pickup and delivery, obtaining appropriate signatures as required.

Ensures safety and comfort of patient (e.g., makes sure safety straps are properly fastened on wheelchairs and beds; assures that IV pole is firmly attached and that there IV bag is full; checks that patient has proper covers).

Keeps equipment (e.g., stretchers, wheelchairs) clean and in good repair.

Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience, and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Assesses gaps in policies and procedures and create necessary policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps.

Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct.

Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.

Other Duties:

Acts as a messenger when required.

Transports support equipment as required.

Completion of training program.

Performs other related duties as required.

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-year previous patient care experience preferred.

  • Good oral communication skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Speaks, reads, and writes English to the extent required by the position. Bilingual preferred.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalency preferred.

Job Setting/Physical Demands:

  • All areas of the Medical Center.

  • Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients.

  • Frequent prolonged standing/walking.

  • Manual dexterity and mobility.

  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching

Salary commensurate with experience within posted range:

$19.00 per hour
